This is neither a simple instructional book on photography – there are thousands of those. And it's certainly not an exposition of the Tao or Dao – there are many first-rate exegeses around. But it puts together a different way of looking at photography – one that works for me, and for many others. I’ve received many messages from around the world saying how the book has inspired them. Equally there have been excoriating reviews. Somewhere in the middle is probably where the most appropriate response lies. I know how to make it a better book now and I’m now a better photographer. And I think the Tao as it manifests itself in photography can be a way to find an enlightenment in photography, so a ‘Zen and Photography’ will, in good time, will come.
